Fred Westphal. Jean O'barr. II by U. Heavily illustrated with colour photographs, this is a celebration of 28 leading artists. They each present a statement about their work - how they became interested in textiles, who influenced them and their creative process. It is a book from which one really can learn something worthwhile. It takes full advantage of previously learned skills in music.
There is no provision for instruction in basic note reading skills of the kind found in methods aimed at younger students. Musical materials have been selected with the mature learner in mind. I'll be back to check it out every so often. That is great to have a list.
Thanks Angela, Rorby's book is actually listed above. Also, see my June 23rd interview with her. I look forward to getting some of the books for my daughter! Thank you for posting your valuable information!

Sweet, thanks for sharing this list with us! I only wish I could figure out which books to start reading with choose the teen to crossover category. Just a question, when you speak of deaf characters, do you only focus on main characters that are deaf or include supporting characters that don't appear that often?
I mainly want to read books that have deaf characters as the main character or one of the main characters. No one sees the five children at their secret games or realize how much their family dynamics are changing until tragedy strikes. The story twists and then twists again while the three families desperately search for answers.
But has this knowledge come too late? Description: An accomplished storyteller returns with her biggest, boldest, most entertaining novel yet—a hilarious, heartfelt story about books, love, sisterhood, and the surprises we discover in our DNA that combines the wit of Jonathan Tropper with the heart of Susan Wiggs. Maggie, Eliza, and Tricia Sweeney grew up as a happy threesome in the idyllic seaside town of Southport, Connecticut. Their one touchstone is their father, Bill Sweeney, an internationally famous literary lion and college professor universally adored by critics, publishers, and book lovers.
When Bill dies unexpectedly one cool June night, his shell-shocked daughters return to their childhood home. But as guests pay their respects and reminisce, one stranger, emboldened by whiskey, has crashed the party.
It turns out that she too is a Sweeney sister. Once the shock wears off, questions abound. And how will a fourth Sweeney sister—a blond among redheads—fit into their story? By turns revealing, insightful, and uproarious, The Sweeney Sisters is equal parts cautionary tale and celebration—a festive and heartfelt look at what truly makes a family.

Also included is proper evacuation and disposal of any residual refrigerant in the system.
